Steve Neal is a retired police commander and the author of three hard-hitting books: Rogue Justice, Toxic Boss Blues, and Bearing Witness to Evil. His career in law enforcement spanned decades of frontline leadership, where he confronted violent crime, systemic corruption, and institutional failures head-on. These experiences shaped his deep understanding of power, accountability, and the human cost of injustice—perspectives that now fuel his work as an author and advocate.

Steve was the architect of Public Safety University (PSU), a college degree partnership between the public safety community and the University of Richmond. He co-founded the Leatherman & Neal public safety consulting team, providing leadership seminars for peace officers for more than a decade.
